It was a pleasure today to witness Enga’s Action Governor & Interim Board Chairman of Highlands Lutheran International School (Hon. Chief Sir Peter Ipatas KBE GCL MP) launch the opening of five (5) new school building infrastructures:-
- A U-Shaped 9-in-1 Primary School Building with Computer Lab in which the School IT Network was launched online by Sir Peter;
- A Duplex School Administration Building;
- A Girls Dormitory with 25 rooms for 50 female students;
- A Science Laboratory for Grade 12 Physics, Chemistry and Biology; and
- A Guest House (with x3 self contained units).
As Board Secretary, I must also commend the hard work and input by Caretaker Principal Henry Kapao who has gone far beyond expectations in managing the entire project. Mr. Kapao is a very experienced school administrator and is the incumbent Enga Secondary Schools’ Inspector.
On hand also was PNG Gutnius Lutheran Church Bishop David Piso who prayed for and blessed each new building. He also acknowledged the work of the Enga Provincial Government under the Interim Chairmanship of Sir Peter Ipatas.
It was both touching and relieving for me having studied here during my primary school days in the late 80s and early 90s. But gone are the buildings I knew to tribal fighting and arson..
