Upper School Curriculum

The program at HLIS is designed to fit the Christian philosophy of the school, satisfy PNG requirements and meet the needs of the total child. The program is regularly reviewed and adjusted as necessary to maintain high standards.

Grades 11 and 12 offers courses leading to the PNG Higher School Certificate.

Individual students are streamed according to interest and ability, and may follow Humanities or Science tracks. Courses offered at HLIS are:

  • Mathematics A and B
  • Biology
  • Physics
  • Chemistry
  • Geography
  • History
  • Business Studies
  • Economics
  • Accounting
  • Design and Technology

2020 grade 12 students participated in a 3 hour National Online Application System (NOAS) workshop conducted by officers from the Department of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (DHERST) at the Wapenamanda Four Square Secondary School on the 7th of October 2020.
