Students at HLIS enjoy informal sports all year long. Favorite sports are rugby, soccer, volleyball and basketball. The campus has a large field for open running sports and a volleyball court. Whenever possible, sports competitions with other schools and local sports clubs are also scheduled during appropriate seasons of the sports year.
A Sports Day each year at HLIS involves four teams of students competing with each other in a variety of competitive games. The pictures below show primary students competing in a game of tunnel ball, as well as two of the teams competing: Lae Green and Ambum Blue. The four school teams are named after the major rivers in the Enga Province: Lae, Ambum, Lagaip, and Minamp.
